Unknown Soldier

An unknown Cival War soldier, who died in November, 1863 is buried in the Northwest Section of the Cemetery. Nations have developed the practice of having a symbolic Tomb of the Unknown Soldier that represents the war grave of those unidentified soldiers. The "Tomb of Unknowns" located at Arlington Cemetery is the the most visable example in the United States because the current President of the United States places a wreath on the grave ever year.

All United States soldiers today have DNA taken to help identifiy them in the event of there death. For soldiers that died in World War II, Korean and Vietnam which were once missing and now found, the United States governeent are taken samples from the family to hep identify remains that are found.
